Burn Bright – Welcome to Ixion

2011 will mark the publication of Marianne de Pierres’s first Young Adult novel, Burn Bright. Her Burn Bright site will keep fans up to date about her latest news and appearances, and will offer a range of exciting features, such as competitions, forums, and all things Burn Bright! In the run up to the book’s publication, we here at Burn Bright welcome you to join us as we assemble this latest de Pierres online resource.

Burn Bright: Marianne de Pierres writes for young adults

The Burn Bright staff comprises blogger/reviewer, Belinda Hamilton, and reviewers Amy Parker and Jamie Marriage. As Burn Bright’s release nears, we’ll reveal more about this incredible book, its fantastic characters, and the ever-dark island of Ixion. You will *love* it! (I was lucky enough to get a sneak preview and I could *not* put it down!). The sequel, Burn Dark, will follow not far behind, and promises to be every bit as dark and compelling as its predecessor.

In the meantime, though, come on over and check out our book reviews (we only review the books we love, so we think you’re pretty much guaranteed to find something you’ll love in our staff picks). We review a range of local and international spec fiction, written by our favourite YA authors (including Michael Pryor, Terry Pratchett, Rosemary Clement-Moore, and Michelle Cooper). We’ve also got an ever-growing line-up of amazing authors featured in our ‘Big 4’ interview series (in which I pose 4 questions for some of our favourite writers). So far, we’ve featured such greats as: Kim Wilkins, Isobelle Carmody, Garth Nix, Kate Forsyth, Alison Goodman, Richard Harland, Christine Bongers, Margo Lanagan, Karen Brooks, Michael Pryor, and Kelley Armstrong. (Pretty impressive bunch, don’tcha think?!). We’ve also recently kicked off a series of Burn Bright profiles, where we spend a bit longer, getting to know creative types we dig. We hope you’ll love innovative, inimitable musician, Yunyu, and intellectual, inspiring poet, Zenobia Frost, as much as we do! Oh, and, we’re recently back from AussieCon4, where I got to sit down and chat with the creative powerhouse, DM Cornish (Monster Blood Tattoo) and tireless, super-talented, Alison Croggon (The Books of Pellinor). Those interviews are coming soon, so stay tuned!

You’ll also find links to other fantastic sites, including Marianne’s other websites, Twitter, and the awesome Isobelle Carmody fansite, Obernewtyn.net, managed by the fabulous Min Dean.

We hope you’ll visit us soon!

In the meantime, happy reading…and…Burn Bright!
